MATCHBOX TWENTY & ONE REPUBLIC TO PERFORM AT SUPER BOWL XLVII PREGAME SHOW & THE SUPER BOWL TODAY ON CBS
Multi-platinum rock bands MATCHBOX TWENTY and ONE REPUBLIC will be performing as part of the Super Bowl XLVII pregame show in New Orleans on Sunday, February 3, the NFL and CBS announced today. The two groups will perform at the NFL Tailgate Party and part of each performance will be televised live on THE SUPER BOWL TODAY on CBS.
Matchbox Twenty’s fourth album, NORTH, debuted at #1 on the Billboard Top 200 album chart as the band released the first set of all-new material in a decade. Matchbox Twenty—Rob Thomas, Paul Doucette, Kyle Cook and Brian Yale—has earned five Grammy nominations, four American Music Awards, the 2004 People’s Choice Award for “Favorite Musical Group” and they were named “Best New Band” in the 1997 Rolling Stone Readers Poll. Thomas had won three Grammy Awards, 11 BMI Awards and two Billboard “Songwriter of the Year” honors for his solo work as well as collaborations with such legends as Santana, Mick Jagger, Willie Nelson and Big Boi. Over the group’s 17-year career, they are known for the chart topping hits including “3AM”, Unwell”, Bent” , “Push” and “ How Far We’ve Come” to their more recent hits “She’s So Mean” and “Overjoyed”. The group completed an Australian tour last year and they are now headed out on a sold out North American tour, which includes a stop in New Orleans.
OneRepublic took the world by storm in 2007 with their debut release Dreaming Out Loud. The album included the smash single “Apologize,” which shattered digital sales and airplay records worldwide and, along with second single “Stop And Stare,” propelled the album to platinum-plus sales. OneRepublic released their sophomore set Waking Up in 2009 and the band has seen three singles – “All The Right Moves,” “Secrets,” and “Good Life” – top the radio charts. Since its release, OneRepublic has toured the world, headlining dates in the U.S. and Europe and opening for Bon Jovi and U2. This past fall OneRepublic released “Feel Again,” a song inspired by the heartbeats of children in remote villages where kids are in need of life-saving care. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of “Feel Again” benefitted Save The Children, the leading independent organization creating lasting change in the lives of children in the U.S. and around the world. “If I Lose Myself” is the new single off the GRAMMY® nominated band’s third studio albumNative which will be released March 26th on Mosely Music Group/Interscope Records.
More than 111.3 million viewers in the U.S. watched last year’s Super Bowl, the most-watched television program in history. The pregame show and Super Bowl XLVII will be broadcast worldwide.
